INNOVATIVE AND TECHNOLOGICAL BASIS OF LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The article is devoted to the theoretical substantiation and the development of practical recommendations for the formation of an innovative and technological basis for the development of livestock farming in Ukraine to increase its efficiency, long-term competitiveness, and sustainable development under modern socio-economic challenges and martial law. The state of the industry under martial law in the country is analyzed, and the causes of modern problems in the development of livestock farming are summarized. The need to improve the material and technical base and technologies for raising farm animals is substantiated. The main directions for the formation of an innovative and technological basis for the development of livestock farming that require an integrated approach are summarized. The advantages and disadvantages of modern technologies are indicated. It is determined that the introduction of innovations has significant prospects provided that technical, economic, and social limitations are overcome. In contrast, the conservatism of established practices and the need for significant operational changes often hinder the spread of new technologies. It is proven that the introduction of innovative technologies in animal husbandry due to the influence of political, economic, social, and security factors is characterized by unevenness and insufficient level, which hinders overcoming negative trends in the industry, slows down adaptation to European standards, and limits the possibilities of strengthening the food security of the state. It is established that large enterprises have the greatest potential for modernizing production, while medium and small farms are gradually introducing affordable technological solutions that help increase the efficiency of their activities. The special importance of the formation and implementation of a balanced state policy aimed at technological modernization of the agricultural sector, supporting the development of animal husbandry and creating conditions for its sustainable functioning in accordance with European requirements is emphasized. Modern trends in digitalization are identified, with a focus on ensuring compatibility across solutions from different manufacturers and integrating information to support management decisions on animal health and welfare, energy efficiency, and farm economic performance. It is concluded that the further development of automated technologies in animal husbandry will depend on a combination of technical progress, the economic efficiency of their implementation, and compliance with public expectations.
