The article is devoted to the development of the concept of enterprise sustainability in the context of contemporary global transformations, economic digitalization, and increasing requirements for ESG-oriented management. The research topic is relevant due to growing environmental uncertainty, worsening ecological challenges, rising corporate social responsibility expectations, and the need to develop new approaches to ensuring long-term enterprise competitiveness. In this regard, the study aims to generalize and further develop the theoretical foundations of sustainable development management in enterprises and to substantiate a set of principles that ensure the integration of economic, social, environmental, and digital components into the strategic enterprise management process.
The article analyzes the formation and evolution of approaches to the development of the sustainability concept. The modern understanding of sustainable development is based on integrating the Triple Bottom Line concept, stakeholder theory, the resource-based view, ESG management, and corporate sustainability principles. The effectiveness of sustainable development management is determined not only by the ability to ensure economic growth but also by the capacity to generate social value, minimize negative environmental impacts, use resources efficiently, and respond promptly to external environmental challenges. Based on the analysis of leading scholarly approaches, the study substantiates the definition of enterprise sustainable development management as a system of strategic, economic, social, environmental, and digital management aimed at ensuring long-term organizational resilience. A system of principles for sustainable development management of enterprises is proposed, including balance, systemacity, adaptability, innovativeness, digital integration, stakeholder orientation, resource efficiency, transparency and accountability, risk resilience, and continuous improvement. Unlike existing approaches, the proposed principles combine classical foundations of sustainable development with modern requirements of ESG transformation, business digitalization, and advanced management practices. The proposed theoretical provisions may be used to develop sustainable development strategies, implement ESG policies, improve corporate governance systems, enhance investment attractiveness, and ensure compliance with international sustainability standards.
