Abstract

The article examines the role of emotional intelligence as a key leadership quality in the conditions of the functioning of the modern business environment. It is shown that the ability of a manager to understand and manage his own emotions and the emotions of others determines his success in forming a cohesive team, maintaining employee motivation, and creating a favorable socio-psychological climate. It is determined that emotional intelligence includes several key components: self-awareness, as an understanding of one’s own emotions, the reason for their appearance, and the impact on decisions; self-regulation, as the ability to manage one’s emotions; motivation, as an internal desire to go towards one’s goal; empathy – the ability to understand the emotions of others; social skills, as the ability to develop good relationships with others, manage conflicts. Particular attention is paid to the importance of emotional intelligence for Ukrainian leaders in wartime conditions, where the emotional stability of the manager becomes a source of team support. The development of emotional intelligence is an important component of the professional growth of a manager/leader, which in turn improves leadership abilities, management effectiveness, and the general atmosphere in the workplace. The components of emotional intelligence are outlined, examples of its manifestation in management activities are given, and tools for developing this competence are identified, in particular through training, coaching, and self-reflection practices. It is emphasized that the development of emotional intelligence is not only a natural trait of individual personalities, but also a skill that can be purposefully improved to increase management effectiveness and leadership qualities.
